FAM's Artwork Loan Policy

Artwork Loan Policy

The Fresno Art Museum, in partial fulfillment of its responsibilities for the collection it holds in public trust, will make works from the Permanent Collection available for loan to fellow non-profit education institutions in order to increase public access to the collection.

Loan requests will be evaluated by the Executive Director and the Curator on the basis of art historical and scholarly value, the condition of the object, the effect the loan would have on the Museum’s planned programming, and the security and environment of the borrowing institution. Certain objects determined by the Curator to have special historical or cultural value and to be irreplaceable or items determined to be too fragile to travel will not be loaned.

Local institutions, meaning those in the tri-county region of Fresno, Madera, and Tulare counties, must submit loan requests at least 6 months prior to the exhibition. All other loan requests must be received 9 months prior to the exhibition, 12 months for international

FAM requires a formal written request on borrowing institution’s letterhead to be sent to the Executive Director of the Museum. Letter should include the following:

  • Description of exhibition

  • Dates of exhibition

  • Exhibition title (working title)

  • List of venues

  • List of requested works

Requests should be sent to:
